Role, Team & Location
We are looking for a Financial Controller to join our team. This position is based at our office in Heerlen, Netherlands. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the financial stability and sustainability of the organization by maintaining accurate and transparent financial administration. This position is ideal for someone with strong financial expertise who thrives in a dynamic, international environment and is eager to make a significant impact.
As a Financial Controller, you will work closely with the Group Controller and Project Managers to ensure that financial data is accurately processed, analysed, and reported. You will be responsible for managing fixed assets, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and advising internal stakeholders on financial matters. This role requires a detail-oriented, proactive professional who excels in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
As a Financial Controller, you play a vital role in ensuring the financial stability of the organization by overseeing the smooth operation of financial processes and ensuring compliance with both internal policies and external regulations. You are responsible for the accurate and timely closing of monthly financial statements, providing stakeholders with the financial clarity they need to make informed decisions. Your first priority will be the preparation and reporting of monthly financial overviews, where your attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines will be essential.
In addition, you will be tasked with collecting, analysing, and reporting financial data. You proactively identify anomalies at an early stage and address them before they escalate into larger issues. A key aspect of your role involves supporting the revenue recognition process for projects, ensuring that revenue is accurately aligned with project progress. You will perform in-depth analyses of ongoing projects to monitor progress, cost developments, and project outcomes. Based on your findings, you will provide recommendations that support sound financial decision-making within the organization.
You will also contribute to the preparation of (multi-year) budgets, thereby supporting the organization’s long-term strategic planning. Lastly, you will manage the financial consolidation of various entities within the organization, delivering a complete and accurate overall picture of the company’s financial position.
What You Bring
Experience & Education
- 4-6 years of relevant experience in financial accounting.
- A higher education degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience with ERP systems (Epicor is a plus).
- Proficiency in English (additional languages are a plus).
Skills
- Strong communication skills, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Analytical thinking with a keen eye for financial details.
- Ability to advise stakeholders on complex financial matters, considering regulations and organizational context.
